About Us
Thank you for your interest in North River Christian Academy. We are a non-denominational, independent, co-educational school located in Tuscaloosa County, fifty miles south of Birmingham, Alabama. Although formerly known as Open Door Christian School, NRCA continues to seek to glorify God in everything. We enroll students in (K5) Kindergarten through grade 12. (If your child is younger than K5 please visit, NRCP, our Preschool section.) At NRCA we believe that faith in Christ is a key essential in learning and will promote excellence in education. All learning whether in the classroom, clubs, or on the athletic field is Christ-centered and focused on giving God the glory for all that is accomplished.
Founded in 1981, North River Christian Academy has been committed to excellence in education. Children are a blessing from God, deserving of being trained in the knowledge of God and the world in which He created. Education of children is the responsibility of the parents; however, NRCA was established to help parents fulfill their God-ordained responsibility by providing a quality education in a safe environment with a decidedly Christian emphasis. North River Christian Academy hires only certified Christian teachers who are committed and called to the field of teaching.
NRCA is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Enrollment is currently underway for the 2010-11 school year. Please see the Admissions page for information on tuition, fees and the application process or view the Where Do I Start page to find out more about what NRCA offers.
